Sanctuary Housing Server Room Project

NCS were invited to supply and install a wiring scheme that would enable them to support their immediate and future-networking needs in a purpose built server room in Worcester.

It was agreed that the interconnecting media required between each of the server cabinets would be an om3 grade multimode fibre therefore NCS supplied and installed 2km of fibre between the various server cabinets, all in all there were approximately six thousand four hundred fibre terminations linking the various server cabinets together.

There was also a requirement to integrate the existing server room environment, which meant many out of hours working rerouting and re-terminating existing inter building fibre links from around the site.

To ensure that the server room was supplied with an up to date copper backbone it was agreed that NCS should supply and install the Hellerman Tyton cat6a Rapid Net system.

This system would ensure that the server room was capable of supporting 10gigabit connectivity for future hardware peripherals.

This cabling scheme which is delivered in prewired looms was manufactured at Hellerman Tyton in Northampton and then shipped to site for installation into the various server cabinets within the server room.

This was a six month project which saw NCS staff working alongside various trades and IS staff but was completed on time and within Budget thus ensuring that Sanctuary housing has a state of the art and reliable cabling scheme within the new server room.
